Notes regarding your exhibition
Good Luck!
I have contacted the maintenance staff and they have promised to upgrade lighting in the studio on Monday.
Mark, Please post your painting time on Sunday on the blog. I assume you were able to get the paint colour from Will. I understand that Patrick will help. I must attend a memorial for a friend of mine so I will not be there.
A call to everyone. Please help Patrick and Mark clean and prepare the studio. Someone please sweep the floor and clean the sink.
Everyone who is planning to hang work in the Studio, please come fully prepared on Tuesday afternoon. We will have regular class in the Morning so maybe we can start hanging then. It's also possible to hang on Monday night at 7. Others may hang work in the halls Tuesday afternoon.
Patrick has posted the poster on the blog. Drag it into an email to send it to friends.
Jenn has purchased paper plates etc.
Everyone bring enough food to serve 1 to 2 people or more.
Please everyone, send your final artist's statement/proposal by email as well as bring a copy to class.
Please send titles of work with your name to be printed for labels.
Good Luck!

Wok in Progress
This is the latest painting, i am almost done with the composition but i am stuck with the background. I will be putting pale water color type washes, with black script all over in my native language. It resembles Arabic in form. The doors represent choices, the fetus is once again the maternal bond, me on the left, theres a road in the middle (curved) inspired from Robert Frosts "the road not taken." The rest I can explain in class. 2 more paintings will follow and they will incorporate the current situation of Pakistan as well as my transition.

TRANSITION
So this is one of the "transition to north america" painting. I am ill and could not present in class. Hope everyone did well, if you guys could post pix that would be great.
The woman in the Hijab signifies my mother and her biggest regret: Sending me here. I'm sure the rest is self explanatory.
See you guys next class.

Project Changes
I've been working on the next poster. I have confidence that I've ironed out the troubles with the last one.
In foremost, I've increased the size of the image to 40x50", though I may shrink it down, and the resolution of the icon is being doubled, though I'm considering tripling it. I'm also using narrative instead of discourse as the written content, which means much more literal imagery.
I'm still taking the same approach though, of stream of consciousness writing, though there'll be more editing now, and I've decided to work around the theme of 'monsters', in every sense of the word.
Just a heads up. Thoughts?

Sites of Field Trip
Hey everybody
Where'd you guys go for the rest of Tuesday for the field trip?
I left early to head back to UTSC for my afternoon class - so I'm just wondering where I should visit this weekend to make up for not sticking around on Tue.

Changing Ideas
Hey guys! I'm bored of my shit idea and I feel like I don't get to do painting so I was thinking of changing my idea with some along the seven sins :P (sorry Jeanna) it's a good topic. I was thinking of doing a series of seven paintings with the seven colors of the sins. I want to create some abstract paintings of these sins with stick figures as a type of border and the image of my self portrait. I can't really explain it, but I will be making an example very soon. If you have any ideas, feel free to give any suggestions.

Changing the content of my project
Hey everyone,
Just thought id let you know that im changing the content of my projet. To be perfectly honest, I dont want to do the whole "male/female stereotypes". In fact, I never had the intention of doing it this semester.
The style will remain the same, which is through the use of photoshop but my idea will be anti-advertisements. One or two might be on serious issues, such as rape or smoking, but not all of them will be. So if anyone has something they would like to see protested against then send your ideas/opinions my way.
Thanks

ARTISTS BLOCK
This blog is dead. Everyone please emerge from your graves and give feedback. I am stuck in a rut, what with working for Blanche, my birthday and 3 assignments due on Tuesday. Sucks to be me. Anyway, I'm scrapping out that Balochi women in suits with coffee or Nestle on their heads...its coming off as very tacky in my head and I don't know how to make proper bodies. My initial idea was to so a study of their objects specifically the "Matka" and perhaps sightings of the village and their women. I want to steer clear of contemporary Urban life and go back in time...even though that is what Balochistan (the village we rule) looks like currently. I have 2 canvases, tonnes of paint and a severe Artists block. A few pictures to depict the life and women there:
My 2nd idea was to have huge blow ups of African Masks and objects. I would have 4 large canvases...similar to Chuck Close's tapestries but I am aiming for a golden hue rather that bronze. I already have my previous work focusing on African Art and am interested in taking that further. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Project Concept: 1000 Words
Finally! I was beginning to get worried that I wouldn't be able to settle on an idea that seemed both feasible AND interesting. I was knocking around at least four or five ideas for the last few weeks!
Anyhow, I know it's a bit of a departure from what I was thinking on the first day, but I'm going to be going with large scale posters, done digitally. I'm aiming for 25 x 40 inches in size, done in sets of three, and as many sets as time allows for.
As for what and how, I plan to write out stream of consciousness writings, based on some writing prompts. From each of these writings, I'll take three sections of 1000 words, and create an icon (25x40px) that personifies each of those sections. I'll blow up that image to be a whopping 1dpi, wherein I'll put one word of each text segment in to each 'pixel'. The solid coloured sections of the icons will then individually have more detailed imagery put in to them, done in something like 3 or 5 shades of the original colour, as to maintain the mosaic appearance of the original icon
when viewed from afar.
Any thoughts or criticisms on this idea? I'm organizing myself tonight. Tomorrow I begin the first set -- aiming to have two ready for Oct 2nd's bench mark, if all goes to plan.
